Educators give until they have zero left to give - and then they give some more. High levels of stress are affecting teacher health and well-being, causing teacher burnout, lack of engagement, job dissatisfaction, poor performance and some of the highest turnover rates ever. Mindful practices can help teachers develop coping and awareness skills to reduce anxiety, depression, and improve health. Studies find that teachers who regularly use stress-reducing strategies increase their abilities to cope with the demands of the career and are positioned to do a better job educating students. These findings strongly suggest that by prioritizing an educator's social and emotional learning helps him or her to be there to participate in school wide SEL practices.
